Robert Eugene “Bob” Gay

Robert Eugene “Bob” Gay, 86, of North Platte passed away August 21, 2016 at Centennial Park Retirement Village. He was born on December 11, 1929 in Sharon Springs, Kansas to Cecil and Iva (McAllister) Gay.
Bob graduated high school in Ogden, Utah. He entered the United States Navy, serving in San Diego and Hawaii. On November 16, 1950 he married Arlene Mickelson in Hawaii. The couple made their home in Utah until 1970, when Bob was transferred with the Union Pacific Railroad to North Platte where he was a District General Foreman, retiring in 1987.
Bob was a 50 year member of the Masonic Lodge, was a member of the Eagles and Moose, he enjoyed snow birding in Texas in the winter. Bob and Arlene enjoyed their life together and had many friends through the years.
Survivors include children, Joel (Laura) Gay of North Platte, and Lori (David) Mussman of Augusta, GA; grandchildren, Andrew Gay of North Platte, Audrey Gay of Kearney, Tony (Kayla) Mussman of Ewing, NE, and Kyle Mussman of Augusta, GA; great-grandchildren, Thane Mussman and Korra Mussman.
He was preceded in death by his parents; and wife of 58 years, Arlene.
Memorials are suggested to the Children’s Service Society of Utah and online condolences may be shared at www.adamsswanson .com.
Inurnment will be at Fort McPherson National Cemetery.
Memorial book signing will be tonight, Wednesday August 24, 2016 from 5:00 p.m. – 7:00 p.m. with the family receiving friends at Adams & Swanson Funeral Home which is in charge of arrangements.
