Storm Snap Short Losing Skid, Win at Omaha

The Tri-City Storm wrapped up a tough weekend on a high note yesterday, defeating the Omaha Lancers 4-3 at the Omaha Civic Auditorium. After losing at home to Omaha on Friday and Cedar Rapids on Saturday, the Storm salvaged two points from the weekend thanks to three second-period goals. After Michael Vecchione’s first period tally, Nick Lappin, Tim Bonner and Kenny Brooks each lit the lamp to give the Storm a 4-2 lead after two. Though the Lancers found the net in the first minute of the third period, the Storm defense made the one-goal lead stand up, thanks to Adam Wilcox’s 25 saves. With the win, the Storm pass Sioux City for sixth place in the USHL’s Western Conference. Their lone game this weekend sees them return to the Civic Auditorium for a rematch with the Lancers on Friday night.
