DeLoyce Elwood Robinson, age 89, of North Platte, died as the result of an automobile accident on Thursday, June 8, 2017.

DeLoyce was born May 10, 1928, to Elmer Lee and Bessie Mae Brittain Robinson at Maxwell, NE, where he grew up. He graduated from Maxwell High School in 1945 then worked for Fairmont Foods for many years before being drafted into the U.S. Army in 1950. Following his discharge, DeLoyce returned to Nebraska and went back to his job with Fairmont Foods in North Platte then became a letter carrier for the U.S. Post Office in 1956. He was known as “Robbie” on his route and after working for 32 years, he retired in 1988.

On September 20, 1964, DeLoyce was united in marriage to Kay Juanita Patton Fry in Fort Collins, CO, and they made their home in North Platte.

DeLoyce was a member of the First Baptist Church and P.R. Halligan Post #163 American Legion. He liked all kinds of cars and loved RVing and traveling around the United States. He also enjoyed gardening and woodworking. DeLoyce especially loved his family, which included his cat and dog.

He leaves behind his wife, Kay, and children, Randy (Sharon) Fry and Deanna (Russ) Hoatson, all of North Platte; seven grandchildren, Nathan and Matthew Fry, Westley and Kaitlyn Hoatson, Benji (Tonya) Hoatson, Julie (Kris) Howe and Michelle (Justin) Krumwiede; brother, James (Gloria) Robinson, of Maxwell; two nieces, three nephews and other family.

DeLoyce was preceded in death by his parents, Elmer and Bessie.

Funeral Service will be 11 a.m. on Tuesday, June 13, 2017, at the First Baptist Church with Pastor Clint Walker officiating. Burial with military honors will be at 2 p.m. in the Gothenburg Cemetery. The casket will be closed. The memorial book may be signed at odeanchapel.com or from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. on Monday at Odean Colonial Chapel at C & Sycamore, which is in charge of arrangements. In lieu of flowers, memorials are to the First Baptist Church.
