Rockies Edge Mariners in Penultimate Spring Training Contest

The Colorado Rockies defeated the Seattle Mariners 9-8 in a wild Cactus League game in Scottsdale, Arizona yesterday afternoon. After allowing five runs in the top of the fifth inning to fall behind 5-4, the Rockies responded by scoring four times in the bottom of the inning to regain the lead for good. Nine different players each had one hit for the Rockies in the win. Infielder Jonathan Herrera drove in three runs, including two on a double in that four-run fifth. On the mound, Rockies starting pitcher Juan Nicasio had his roughest outing of the spring, failing to make it out of the fifth inning and allowing four runs on eight hits.
