Nebraska head basketball coach Tim Miles announced an addition to his coaching staff and two departures from his roster yesterday. Ben Johnson, an assistant at Northern Iowa for the last four seasons, will join Miles and Ronald Coleman on the Husker bench. The 31 year-old Johnson has Big Ten ties. He played his first two seasons of college hoops at Northwestern before transferring to Minnesota for his final two seasons. Next year’s Husker team saw their ranks decrease further when Miles announced that Jorge Brian Diaz and Mike Fox are leaving the program. Diaz, the promsing but oft-injured big man from Puerto Rico, played just 16 games last season and will pursue professional basketball in his home country. Fox played in 23 games last season. He’s leaving the team to focus on student teaching next year.
