Robert T. “Bob” Epler

Robert T. “Bob” Epler, 66, of North Platte, died peacefully at home on Tuesday, February 27, 2018.

Bob was born March 26, 1951, to Robert Troy and Mildred Mae (Stubbs) Epler in Lexington. The family later moved to North Platte where Bob graduated from North Platte High School in 1970. He started working in construction while in high school and did so until hiring on with the Union Pacific Railroad in 1974 with B&B Water Service. In ’75 he transferred into Transportation and worked until retiring in 2011 as a Conductor.

On June 20, 1973, Bob was united in marriage to Michelle Jo Tepner in North Platte. They lived in Omaha while Bob worked construction then returned to North Platte when he hired on with the railroad.

Bob was a member of F.O. Eagles Aries #2839 and U.T.U. He liked camping, hunting and solving crossword puzzles. He also enjoyed his country home and especially loved his grandkids.

He is survived by his wife, Michelle, and children, Trena Epler (Scott Moses) and Troy (Joy) Epler, all of North Platte; grandchildren, Shenae, Shaniece, Anthony, Isaiah, Gracie and Josiah; sisters, Linda Janecek and Diane Johnson, and stepbrother, Jeff Olson, all of North Platte; as well as many nieces, nephews and other family.

Bob was preceded in death by his mother, Mildred Olson; father, Robert Epler; and brothers-in-law, Vic Janecek and Chuck Johnson.

Funeral service will be 11:30 a.m. Monday, March 5, 2018, at Odean Colonial Chapel at C & Sycamore with Pastor Mark Baldwin officiating. Burial will follow in Floral Lawns Memorial Gardens. Family requests casual dress for the service.

Visitation will be 9 a.m. to 7 p.m. Saturday and 1 to 6 p.m. Sunday at Odean Colonial Chapel at C & Sycamore, which is in charge of arrangements. In lieu of flowers, memorials are suggested to Hospice.
