Cleona D. Douglas, 83, of Ogallala, passed away March 10, 2018, at the Ogallala Community Hospital.
Cleona was born on May 6, 1934, in Denmark, Nebraska, to Ralph and Irene (Thomsen) Gutherless. She graduated from Maxwell High School with the class of 1952.
Shortly after graduation, Cleona married Reinhold Heil. The couple made their home south of North Platte, and their union was blessed with two children, Randy and Roxie. Reinhold passed away in 1985. Cleona would eventually marry Pete Norman Douglas in 1987, and they made their home in North Platte. In 2013, Cleona moved to Ogallala to be closer to her family.
Cleona was active in the VFW and Cootie Club. For many years, Cleona helped with the VFW-sponsored Easter egg hunt at Cody Park. She loved gardening, sewing, canning, playing cards, as well as crossword and jigsaw puzzles.
Cleona was preceded in death by her parents and both of her husbands.
Survivors include her children, Randy (Ellen) Heil of North Platte and Roxie (Neil) Breece of Ogallala; grandchildren, R.C. (Christian) Heil and Michael (Stephanie) Heil, both of North Platte, Amanda (Adam) Peters of Ogallala, Lyndsey (Cody) Phillips of Hastings, Mandy (special friend, Clay Fraser) Breece of Brule and Jase (special friend, Lindsey) Breece of Lincoln; three sisters, Lucille Meyer of Scottsbluff, Eunice Masters and Bunny (Floyd) Bokoskie, both of North Platte; sister-in-law, Kate Wingett; brother-in-law, Dale (Carol) Douglas of North Platte; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Services will be at 1 p.m. on Friday, March 16, at Fort McPherson National Cemetery near Maxwell. The memorial book may be signed from 1-5 p.m. on Thursday, March 15, at Prairie Hills Funeral Home, Ogallala, which is in charge of arrangements.
