April Blizzard pushes back sports events (APR 13th)

North Platte, Neb – Mother Nature’s wrath has ripped through central Nebraska early in April.

Blizzard conditions forced many of the area schools to postpone or cancel events on the weekend of April 13th.

For North Platte High School: 

  • The North Platte Girls JV Tennis Invite that was postponed due to weather on Saturday, April 14th, is now rescheduled for Thursday, April 26th.  Start time is 10:00 A.M.
  • Due to a scheduling conflict with the golf course, the JV Boys Golf Invite scheduled for Friday, April 20th, at Kearney, will now be held on Thursday, April 19th at 9:00 A.M.
  • Due to the impending weather forecast, the girls and boys soccer games scheduled for Friday, April 13th at Columbus have been postponed. A make-up date is to be determined.

For North Platte Community College Softball:

The impending blizzard has altered the schedule for the North Platte Community College Knights softball team for the upcoming week.

The Knights were to play Sunday, April 15 and Monday, April 16 against Central Community College in a pair of doubleheaders.  Those games have been moved to Wednesday, April 18 at 5 pm and 7 pm and Thursday April 19 at noon and 2 pm.

Because of the change to the Central game to April 18, the Knights doubleheader against McCook Community College is moved  to Monday, April 23.  Game times for the McCook games are at 5 pm and 7 pm.

For Sutherland High School: 

SHS: The Perkins County golf meet scheduled for Tuesday has been cancelled.

For Gothenburg High School: 

The JV Golf Invite at Minden has been postponed once again to next Monday, April 23rd.
