Ronald Edward Johanson, 61, of North Platte passed away August 13, 2018 at St. Elizabeth’s Regional Medical Center in Lincoln.
Ron was born September 13, 1956 in North Platte, NE to Glen Edward and Cherry “Charmaine” (Wells) Johanson. He attended elementary school in North Platte prior to the family moving to the farm near Stapleton, NE where he graduated from high school in 1975. Ron then attended Chadron State College until 1978. He was involved in sales his entire life. He enjoyed people and made it a priority to make sure they were treated fairly and taken care of. Ron never met a stranger and helped anyone in need. His joys were hunting and fishing and especially time spent with his grandchildren. He loved Christmas, which he always tried to make extra special for the grandkids. Ron also enjoyed coin collecting, reading and writing. He had countless short stories that he had written about life, family, friends, hunting and fishing and he had a way of making the reader feel like you were right there with him on those adventures. Ron was a Mason, a Shriner, a member of the local Eagles and a member of the Lincoln County Coin Club. He enjoyed making people laugh and he treated everyone the same. If you knew him, he was always teasing or playing a practical joke on someone.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Glen and Charmaine Johanson; and an infant sister, Angela.
Ron is survived by his love of 27 years, Rhonda Richards; sons, Cory (Ashley) Johanson of North Platte, NE, Ryan Pierce of Kearney, NE, and T.J. (Tonya) Pierce of Centennial, CO; daughter, Erin (Tim Atchison) Johanson of North Platte, NE; grandchildren Cash, Karlee and Kyson Johanson, Madison and Ellie Pierce, Max and Felix Pierce and Aurora and Arick “Amos” Atchison; sister, Melanie (Rex) Black of Spencer, NE; and numerous other family members.
