Marion D. Kellie, age 83 of North Platte, NE passed away September 2, 2018 at Great Plains Health. He was born December 7, 1934 at North Platte to Chester Louis and Mary Elizabeth (Weekly) Kellie. He attended school in Wellfleet and later worked with his father. He enlisted in the United States Coast Guard on December 4, 1956 and served on the USCGC Taney and received an honorable discharge on November 30, 1960. While in the service he was united in marriage to Alberta Price on August 13, 1959 at Coquille, OR. Marion was proud of his service to his country and last year revisited the ship he served on and other historic ships in Baltimore.

After his discharge Marion moved to North Platte and was employed by Missouri Valley Construction and later Western Engineering, where he retired.

He is survived by his daughter, Chris (Randy) Edwards; sons, Don Kellie, Dan (Cindy) Kellie; daughter, Cathy “Bug” Kellie; twelve grandchildren, 19 great grandchildren; numerous nieces, nephews and other relatives.

Marion was preceded in death by his wife, Alberta “Bert” L. Kellie on June 14, 2017.

Services will be 1:00 pm Thursday, September 6, 2018 at Carpenter Memorial Chapel with Melvin Brown officiating. Burial will be at Ft. McPherson National Cemetery with military honors. Visitation with family receiving friends will be from 5 to 7pm Wednesday at the funeral home. A memorial has been established in his memory.
