Jack DeWayne Hartgrave

Jack DeWayne Hartgrave, 82, of North Platte, passed away at Centennial
Park Retirement Home on Tuesday, December 4, 2018.

Jack was born in Thedford, Nebraska on June 21, 1936, to William Robert
and Mina (Parker) Hartgrave.  He grew up on the Hartgrave ranch near
Elsmere until he joined the U.S. Navy in January 1955. Jack served
during the Korean Conflict and was stationed on the U.S.S. Higbee and
later the U.S.S. Shenandoah.

Following his discharge in 1959, Jack moved to Wyoming and started
roofing until he was injured in a tar roller explosion that put him in
the hospital for a year.  When he recovered he returned to roofing,
which he did for many years.

On February 13, 1976, Jack married Mary Margaret Sopr in Laramie,
Wyoming where they made their home.  They moved to North Platte in 1992
and Jack retired.

He was a past member of the Moose Lodge and known as a ‘jack of all
trades’. He  liked working on vehicles, collecting toy trains and cars
and had fun racing them.

He leaves behind his wife, Mary, of North Platte; sons, Jay Mullendore,
of Wyoming and Scott Mullendore, of Texas; daughters, Rosie Cleveland,
of Montana, Tina (Roger) Mineard, of Washington and Peggy Caputo, of
North Platte; 12 grandchildren; 6 great-grandchildren; sisters, Kay
(Dale) White and Charlene Pratt, all of Wyoming and Adele Cardwell, of
Idaho; and numerous nieces, nephews and other family.

Jack was preceded in death by his father, William Hartgrave; mother and
stepfather, Mina and Tuff Downing; sister, Shirley Cottrell; and
brother, Bill Hartgrave.
