North Platte Firefighters Respond to Blaze on 8th and Willow

NORTH PLATTE-(NORTH PLATTE POST)

Driving past 8th street you may have seen road closures due to a dangerous fire seen at 8th st and Willow in North Platte caused by a stove-top burner left on.

Temperatures in the high 80s made for a dangerous battle with the blaze sending smoke in the air alerting locals of the emergency. North Platte Firefighters responded to the call at 11:45AM Monday June 4th.

All three North Platte Fire Stations responded to the fire, as well as mutual aid from fire stations of Hershey and Stapleton.  Two firefighters were sent to the hospital due to fire exhaustion. The Red Cross was on site with food and refreshments for the firefighters.

The firefighters did a “tremendous job under the conditions” says Assistant Chief Dennis Thompson of The North Platte Fire Department.

The house is being watched to prevent further burning from happening.
