The Weekend That Was (June 9-10)

Away from your TV this weekend? Here’s what you missed in the world of sports…

-The Miami Heat defeated the Boston Celtics in Game 7 of the Eastern Conference Finals to earn their second consecutive trip to the NBA Finals. LeBron James, Dwyane Wade and Chris Bosh combined to score 28 consecutive points for their team in the fourth quarter to lift the Heat to victory and complete their comeback from being down in the series, three games to two. The Heat and Oklahoma City Thunder open the NBA Finals on Tuesday night. You’ll be able to hear all that action on ESPN Radio 1410.

-The New Jersey Devils knocked off the Los Angeles Kings 2-1 in Game 5 of the Stanley Cup Final to keep the series alive. The Devils have won two straight games after falling behind three games to none. Game six is Monday night in Los Angeles.

-Union Rags won the Belmont Stakes, a race that had much less at stake when Kentucky Derby and Preakness Stakes winner I’ll Have Another withdrew from the race with an injury.

-Manny Pacquiao lost his WBO welterweight title to Timothy Bradley Jr. in a highly controversial split decision. Two officials had scored the fight 115-133 in favor of Bradley. The third judge had the fight 115-113 in favor of Pacquiao.
