Blown Save Means Rockies Woes Continue (LISTEN LIVE TODAY on ESPN Radio 1410)

This time around, it was the relief pitching, not the starting pitcher, that sent the Rockies to another humiliating defeat. The Rockies fell to the Oakland A’s 10-8 at Coors Field last night, their seventh consecutive loss. The Rockies led 8-7 heading into the ninth inning, but Rafael Betancourt allowed three runs in blowing the save. Colorado had built their lead thanks to big nights from the heart of their order. Todd Helton hit a first-inning grand slam that gave the Rockies an early advantage. Michael Cuddyer homered twice, his second a two-run shot in the fourth that put the Rockies ahead 8-5. The Rockies are now 0-8 in interleague play, and have fallen a season high 13 games below .500. They’ll try and avoid the sweep against the A’s this afternoon. ESPN Radio 1410 has the call, with pregame coverage at 1:30 and first pitch at 2:10.
