Sutherland Drowning believed to be accidental.

Sutherland Neb- (Lincoln County Sheriff) On June 30th, 2012 at 5:42 p.m., Deputies from the Lincoln County Sheriff’s Office were informed an adult male body was found floating at Omaha Beach (just east of Oregon Trails Golf
Course), Sutherland Reservoir.    The body was removed from the water by family members and good Samaritans who started CPR.   The subject was unresponsive.

Sutherland Rescue arrived and assisted with emergency care, transporting the individual to Great Plains Regional Medical Center.        The subject was identified as forty nine year old James F. Decent of Paxton, NE.     Mr. Decent was pronounced dead at 6:39 p.m. by emergency room staff.

Witness said about ten to twenty minutes prior to finding Mr. Decent; they observed him swimming in front of the campground.  Alcohol is believed to be a factor in this case and the investigation is ongoing, the cause of death is believed to be accidental.
