The Colorado Rockies’ final road trip before the All-Star Break began with a thud. Another night-long pitching nightmare saw the Rockies fall 9-3 to the St. Louis Cardinals last night. Starting pitcher Josh Outman was lucky to leave the game trailing only 2-0, as he walked five batters in his three innings of work. Relievers Tyler Chatwood and Adam Ottavino combined to give up six runs over the next four innings to put the game out of reach. The Rockies got on the board with Tyler Colvin’s ninth home-run of the season, a two-run blast in the fourth that momentarily tied the game. Carlos Gonzalez had a pair of hits to extend his hitting streak to 10 games. The Rockies and Cardinals play game two of their series at Busch Stadium tonight. ESPN Radio 1410 has the action, with pregame coverage at 6:30 and the first pitch at 7:15.
