Rockies Drop Fourth in a Row (LISTEN LIVE TONIGHT on ESPN Radio 1410)

The Colorado Rockies’ roster didn’t change on trade deadline day in Major League Baseball. Neither did the results on the field from the current squad, who lost their fourth straight game. The Rockies fell to the St. Louis Cardinals 11-6 in the first of a three-game series at Coors Field. Rockies starter Jeff Francis was tagged for four runs before he recorded an out in the first inning, putting his team behind the eight-ball early. Rookie second-baseman Josh Rutledge got the Rockies back within striking distance with a three-run homer in the fifth inning that made it a 6-5 game, but St. Louis scored three times in the seventh to put the game away. The Rockies and Cardinals play game two of their series tonight. ESPN Radio 1410 has the action live, starting with pregame coverage at 7:05 and taking you to the first pitch at 7:40.
