The Colorado Rockies have only won three three-game series since the beginning of June. They’re coming off of their latest accomplishment of that feat, having taken two out of three from the Dodgers in Los Angeles, as they open a three-game set in San Francisco against the Giants tonight. The Rockies aided the Giants in their race against the Dodgers in the NL West, as the Giants were able to hold their division lead over their bitterest rival. Now, the Rockies will hope to play spoiler in the other direction. But they’ve struggled mightly against San Francisco all season, losing six of eight meetings and getting outscored 61-39. Tyler Chatwood gets the start on the mound tonight for the Rockies. He’ll be opposed by San Francisco’s struggling ace Tim Lincecum.
