The Scottsbluff City Council has approved an agreement for its police chief that provides $10,000 for resigning from the department.
Alex Moreno, who acknowledged an affair with a woman who later sued him and the city, resigned last week, effective Oct. 1.
In the agreement approved by the council on Monday, Moreno agreed to be a cooperative witness in all pending litigation. City Attorney Howard Olsen says as a city employee, Moreno would have been allowed due process rights and an appeal hearing if he had been terminated. The agreement includes a waiver of those rights or any claim he may have against the city.
Moreno acknowledged the affair with Tamara Villanueva in his response to the federal lawsuit she filed last year.
