The North Platte Bulldogs went down to defeat in their season opener, losing to Norfolk 27-6 at Bauer Field at Memorial Stadium. The visiting Panthers scored the games first 20 points in the first quarter, and North Platte cost themselves several scoring chances by committing seven turnovers. Despite being -5 in the turnover margin, however, North Platte came up with some good defense after the first quarter to stay in the ballgame.
Dylon Mlady threw for 108 yards and a touchdown and ran for 44 yards to pace the North Platte offensive attack. Levi Tomlinson had an interception to highlight the Bulldogs’ defensive effort.
The Bulldogs head to Lincoln to take on Pius X next Friday. The Thunderbolts lost their opener to Kearney, 27-14.
