Wallace F. “Wally” McKay

Wallace F. “Wally” McKay, 95, of North Platte, passed away August 26, 2012 at his home. He was born March 13, 1917, to Hugh and Lilian McKay of Prince Edward Island, Canada. At a young age they moved to Haigler, NE where Wallace graduated from Haigler High School.
Wallace started a Chrysler/Plymouth dealership in Haigler in the late 1940’s. He moved to North Platte in 1955 after buying the Chrysler/Plymouth dealership here, which he was involved in for 50 years.
Wally married Betty Foster in 1965 in North Platte. He was a member of North Platte Elks Club, Tehema Shrine and Mason’s. He enjoyed playing cards with friends and family.
He is survived by his wife, Betty of North Platte; son, Ronald (Mary) of North Platte; daughters, Linda (Ron) Eggleston and Kathy (Tom) Gunderson all of Phoenix, AZ; sons, Keith (Ronna) McCormick of Casper, WY and Mike (Shari) McCormick of Coppell, TX; grandchildren, Kevin (Amber) McKay, Shane (Stacy) Gunderson, Mike (Kelly) Gunderson, Chad (Erin) Gunderson, Kylie McCormick, Kelsey McCormick, Adrienne McCormick and Phillip McCormick; and three great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
Memorials are suggested to the First Presbyterian Church and online condolences may be shared at www.adamsswanson.com.
Services will be 10:00 a.m. Thursday, August 30, 2012 at the First Presbyterian Church with the Reverend Polly Deppen officiating. Burial will follow at Floral Lawns Memorial Gardens. Visitation will be 9:00 a.m. until 9:00 p.m. Wednesday, August 29, 2012 with the family receiving friends from 6:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. at Adams & Swanson Funeral Home.
