Change To Rule 10 By Nebraska Board of Education Doesn’t Impact NP Schools

NORTH PLATTE, Neb.- The Nebraska Board of Education made a change to Rule 10 earlier in August that has many teachers upset and confused.

The change to Rule 10  governs all schools and districts.

To successfully be accredited by the state and receive state funds all districts must comply with Rule 10. To comply Rule 10 requires public schools to recite the Pledge of Allegiance, though participation by any individual student or teacher is completely voluntary.

In North Platte there is no confusion as North Platte Public Schools.

Superintendent of North Platte Public Schools Marty Basset said in an interview,

“It doesn’t really impact North Platte Public Schools because we have been saying the Pledge of Allegiance before, it’s really not a change for us”

The change to Rule 10 has caused no issues for North Platte Public Schools.
