Chadron State College is taking a safe route as wildfires rage in the western Nebraska Panhandle.
Chadron State College classes have been canceled allowing students to leave early for the holiday weekend, but the campus is still open.
Though the Campus is in no immediate danger, school officials want to stay on the safe side. Students who live on Campus don’t have to leave but if they do, are requested to check out at the front desk to keep a list of who’s there and who’s not.
As the fires rage Panhandle Firefighters could really use help with supplies.
Donation drop off sites include Chadron, Crawford, Rushville or Hay Springs fire halls or Tommy’s Car Lot in Chadron and Crawford.
