Huskers Tumble Out of AP Poll After Defeat

The Husker football team is out of the AP Top 25 poll for the first time since November 2009. They dropped into the ‘Also Receiving Votes’ category after their 36-30 loss at UCLA Saturday night. The Huskers had been ranked 16th entering the contest, which saw them give up 653 yards of total offense. That’s the most that any Husker defense has allowed in the Bo Pelini era. Nebraska remains ranked 24th in the USA Today coaches’ poll, down 10 spots from the week before. The Huskers had good company in terms of tumbling out of the AP Poll – Arkansas, Wisconsin and Oklahoma State, all considered conference title contenders, saw themselves slide out of the rankings after losses this weekend as well. Nebraska looks to rebound against Arkansas State on Saturday at Memorial Stadium. It’s set for an 11 AM kickoff.
