Rockies Lose Sixth Straight as de la Rosa’s Return Spoiled

The Colorado Rockies bungled their way to a sixth straight defeat, falling 9-2 to the San Francisco Giants yesterday afternoon. In his first big league start since May 20 of last year, Rockies southpaw Jorge de la Rosa couldn’t make it out of the fourth inning, allowing seven runs. But two of those runs were unearned as the Rockies defense made a pair of errors behind him. Pablo Sandoval hit two home runs for the Giants, both off de la Rosa, and drove in four runs. The Rockies made a mess of their offense as well, recording 13 hits but stranding 10 runners on base. Jonathan Herrera and de la Rosa drove in runs in the losing effort. The Rockies return home for their final homestand of the season, opening a four-game series against the Arizona Diamondbacks tonight. First pitch is set for 7:10.
