4S Goat Expo Grazing On Warm Welcome

The 4S Goat Expo, being held in Lincoln County for the first time, was awarded $600 by the North Platte/Lincoln County Convention and Visitors Bureau at the regular Advisory Committee monthly meeting on September 26. “The 4S Goat Expo, held for the past ten years in Dawson County attracts visitors from Nebraska, Kansas, South Dakota, Colorado and Iowa,” said NP/LCCVB Executive Director Lisa Burke. “We are grateful to Randy Saner and the UNL Extension office for bringing this event to North Platte.”

The grant award will be used to help the organization offset the cost of the featured speaker, Dr. Kenneth M. Andries, Ph.D. of Kentucky State University. Dr. Andries will cover many topics, including multi-species grazing, nutrition, genetics and management. There will also be a producer panel that includes producers from across the Midwest as well as Dr. Andries.

More information about the 4S Goat Expo can be found at their website, www.4sgoatexpo.org.

The Advisory Committee has earmarked $77,000 in the 2012/2013 fiscal year budget of the Convention and Visitor’s Bureau for Promotional and Incentive grants. These grants are awarded on a first-come, first-serve basis, and all event and activity promoters are encouraged to make their application well in advance of their event to ensure availability of funds. In the past ten years, the NP/LCCVB Advisory Committee has awarded more than $288,000 in promotional and incentive grants.

Events and activities that occur within Lincoln County will be considered for these awards. Applications and information are available by calling the NP/LCCVB at 308-532-4729 or emailing [email protected].
