Bruce William Lobdell, 83, of Gothenburg, Nebraska, died October 14, 2012 in Gothenburg, NE.
Bruce was born on April 12, 1929 to Everet and Ella Lobdell in Lexington, NE. He was baptized and confirmed in the Lutheran Church in Cozad, NE He attended Lexington High School and joined the US Army in 1948 and served his country until 1950.On September 30, 1950 he was united in marriage to Dorothy Helen Cler Wood. To this union, three children were born: Gary Lobdell, Marlene(Larry) Fiese, and Sandi (Mike) Brown.
Bruce and his wife farmed in the Cozad area until he went to work for Monroe Auto Equipment. He retired from Monroe’s in 1991. They enjoyed 13 years of traveling after his retirement where they saw 49 of the 50 states.Bruce was an avid gardener. He took great pride in his hostas and flowers. Bruce was also avid Husker Fan. However, Bruce’s true love was his family. He always had a special place in his heart for his kids and grandkids.
Bruce was preceded in death by his parents Everet and Ella, three sisters – Pat, Caroline, and Beverly; one brother Rodney, and a step-daughter Lana.
Survivors include his wife Dorothy Lobdell, son Gary Lobdell of Lincoln, daughter Marlene Fiese of Gothenburg, daughter Sandi Brown of North Platte,; grandchildren: Jason, Casey, Scott, Cameron, Torey, Hillary, Whitney, step-grandchildren Josh, Cassie, Chantel and great-grandchildren Ava, Cash, and Brady.
Visitation will be held at Blase-Strauser Memorial Chapel, Gothenburg, Nebraska; Wednesday, October 17, 2012 1:00 pm – 8:00 pm.
Services will be held at American Lutheran Church, October 18, 2012 at 10:30 am with Pastor Tom Wilson, Lonna Grabenstein PMA officiating.
Interment will follow in the Fort McPherson National Cemetery.
