A North Platte man is one of six people who are accused of having sex with an underage girl from Kearney who is believed to be involved in a child prostitution ring.
Zachary Schmidt, 26, of North Platte is accused of having sex with a girl under the age of 16, but at least 12 years old, sometime between February and March of 2012. Schmidt is charged with first-degree sexual assault of a child. If convicted, Schmidt could be sentenced with a mandatory minimum sentence of 15-years prison. Schmidt is charged in Buffalo County Court.
Schmidt was identified by the alleged victim during a photo lineup executed by the Nebraska State Patrol in September. After a recent interview conducted in North Platte, Schmidt was arrested on a Buffalo County warrant.
According to the Associated Press, Schmidt and the five other men allegedly had plans arranged which were allegedly organized by 35-year-old Michelle Randall. Randal is accused of prostituting her 14-year-old and 7-year-old daughters.
According to the Kearney Hub, the five other men accused of having sex with the underage girl are Alex Rahe, 29, of Omaha, Logan Roepke, 22, of McCook, Donald Grafe, 38, of Monroe, and Shad Chandler, 41, of Lincoln.
Zachary Schmidt was arrested on October, 4th, in Lincoln County on charges of Driving Under Suspension and Failure To Appear.
