A late rally fell short and the Colorado Rockies dropped the first game of a three game set in Los Angeles against the Dodgers, losing by an 8-5 score. The Rockies trailed 8-1 entering the top of the ninth inning but scored four times and had the go-ahead run at the plate with one out and the bases loaded, but Troy Tulowitzki and Seth Smith both failed to come through to end the game. Juan Nicasio took the loss on the mound for the Rockies, allowing five runs in 5.2 innings pitched. The Rockies offense was led by Dexter Fowler, who had a pair of hits and a pair of RBI. Game two of the series between the Rockies and the Dodgers is tonight. ESPN Radio 1410 has the action with pregame coverage at 8:30 and the first pitch at 9:10.
