For the second straight day, the North Platte First Nationals staved off elimination at the National Division Class A State Tournament, knocking off Lincoln Northeast 11-5 at Bill Wood Field. With the score tied at five in the seventh inning, the First Nationals exploded for six runs in their final two offensive frames. Jordan Elliot had what would prove to be the winning hit with an RBI single in the seventh inning. Hunter King’s two-run triple in the eighth was the crucial blow in a four-run inning. Jamie McKain pitched the final five innings in relief for the First Nationals to earn the victory. The win leaves North Platte as one of four teams still playing at the tournament. They take on unbeaten Grand Island Home Federal tonight at 7 PM. In the other game today, Millard North and Millard South meet at 4 PM.
