Thanks to the intervention of Mother Nature, the North Platte First Nationals enter the final day of the National Division Legion A State Tournament still alive. But the First Nationals will be in a deep hole against Grand Island when their game resumes today. Last night their game was halted with two outs in the top of the ninth inning due to a power outage at Bill Wood Field, with Grand Island in the midst of a five-run rally that had given them a 6-1 lead. Jamie McKain’s RBI double in the seventh inning had tied the score at one apiece, producing the only North Platte offense of the night. The game will resume at 2:30 this afternoon from the spot at which it was stopped. If North Platte can come back and win, they would play Millard South at 4 PM, and would need to win that game to force a second championship game.
