The Class A Senior National Division Legion Baseball State Tournament was won by Grand Island Home Federal last night at Bill Wood Field. Grand Island ripped through the tournament field with a 5-0 record, capping it off with a 6-4 victory over Millard South in the championship game. It was Grand Island who eliminated the North Platte First Nationals, finishing their tournament run for good yesterday afternoon in the conclusion of their semifinal game that had been halted due to rain on Tuesday night. The game was resumed with a 6-1 Grand Island lead in the top of the ninth inning. GI would tack on two more runs and the First Nationals went quietly in their half of the ninth to end their season. The First Nationals conclude their season with a 26-27 record and a third place finish at state.
