Man Arrested In Connection To Trailer Theft

On November 27th, 2012, a subject came to the Sheriff’s Office concerned that an enclosed trailer on his property was stolen.  The subject advised the trailer was recently painted and that he could not observe any vehicle identification number and a Vehicle identification number appeared to have been removed.

Deputies responded to the location of the trailer in Hershey, NE. and took several photographs of the trailer. Further investigation determined the trailer was stolen from a business on East Fourth Street in North Platte during late August 2012.  The trailer originally red when it was stolen, now was sporting a new white paint job.   The owner of the trailer was contacted and positively identified the trailer, based upon several specific details and damage.  Also the owner’s last name was located, stamped to a wall inside the trailer.  Numerous items in the trailer were identified by the owner as items that were in the trailer at the time it was stolen.  The trailer is a 24 foot enclosed trailer, valued at $3500.00.

Forty-three year old transient, Phillip Tyan was identified as the subject who placed the trailer on the property sometime around November 20th or 21st, 2012.   Mr. Tyan was interviewed at the Lincoln County Sheriff’s Office and denied knowing the trailer was stolen, Mr. Tyan said he got the trailer from another individual.   Mr. Tyan was issued a citation for Felony Possession of Stolen Property and incarcerated.    The investigation continues.
