A 26-year-old man has been given two life terms for stabbing to death two people at his home in the Nebraska Panhandle city of Alliance.

Our sister station, the Panhandle Post, says Dominick Dubray also was sentenced to 30 to 40 years in prison on two weapons charges. The life sentences were mandatory for the first-degree murder convictions. Dubray was found guilty by a Box Butte County jury on Oct. 15.

Prosecutors say Dubray killed 22-year-old Catalina Chavez, of Alliance, and 42-year-old Mike Loutzenhiser, of Scottsbluff. Their bodies were found in Dubray’s house on Feb. 11.

Prosecutors say the case stemmed from an act of rage that erupted from a domestic dispute between Dubray and Chavez. The defense says Dubray was acting in self-defense.

Dubray says he intends to appeal.
