Nebraska men’s basketball survived a serious scare from Jacksonville State last night at the Devaney Center. Dylan Talley’s two free throws with six seconds left sealed a 59-55 Husker victory. Nebraska held a double-digit lead for parts of the second half, but due to poor free throw shooting, the visiting Gamecocks had a chance to tie or win in the final seconds. They missed a driving layup, and Talley rebounded and was fouled, giving him the chance to ice the game at the line. Brandon Ubel led the Huskers with 15 points. Shavon Shields contributed a career-high 14 points off the bench, and Talley also finished in double figures with 10 points. The Huskers snap a two-game losing streak and improve to 7-3 with the victory. They compete in the Sun Bowl Invitational in El Paso Texas this Saturday and Sunday.
