Olive “Pauline” Rector


Olive “Pauline” Rector passed on Jan. 18, 2013 in Ocala, FL. Born in Mullen, Nebraska on June 1, 1913, she was 99. Pauline was teaching school in the fall after graduating high school in 1931. She taught 1-room country schools and later in the public elementary until 1971 when she used her college degree and became in charge of the Children’s wing of the North Platte, NE public library. She taught long enough that some students were offspring of parents she had taught earlier. Because of Arthritis she retired at 62 years old and became the BIOANIC woman. She had 6 total joint replacements with one repaired later. She was a member of the Methodist Church in North Platte, was recognized in the “Who’s Who in Nebraska” book, and won many awards as a teacher and librarian. She was interviewed weekly on local TV to promote the library.

With her son, she moved to Belleview, FL from Denver, CO in 2001 to be with family.

She is survived by their 3 sons, David and Charles of Belleview, Lloyd of Crystal River; granddaughters, Laura Tierney of Omaha, NE and Brandi Rector of San Diego, CA; grandsons, Danny Rector of Hernando, FL and Nick and Brian Rector of Ocala, FL; and 7 great grandchildren.

Her husband William (Bill) preceded her in death in 1986.

Services will be 2:00 p.m. MT Friday, January 25, 2013 at the Mullen United Methodist Church with the Reverend Shanon Williams officiating. Burial will follow in the Cedarview Cemetery. Visitation will be 9:00 a.m. until 5:00 p.m. Thursday at Adams Swanson Funeral Home which is in charge of arrangements.
