Power Outage Closes Douglas Co. Courthouse

OPPDA power outage has forced officials to keep the Douglas County Courthouse closed until electricity is restored.

An explosion and fire in an underground vault that occurred a little before 5:45 p.m. Sunday knocked out power to about 2,000 customers. Omaha Public Power District says it’s been restored to all but about 100 of them, but some traffic lights have been affected, as well as some buildings. That includes OPPD’s headquarters.

Police said Monday that stop signs were set up at some intersections, and officers were directing traffic at some busier intersections.

OPPD spokesman Mike Jones says he doesn’t have an estimate for when the repairs will be finished.
