One Week Before Deadline, Huskers and Royals Wait On Starling

The deadline for Major League Baseball teams to sign their Entry Draft picks is one week away, and Bubba Starling still hasn’t signed on the dotted line with the Kansas City Royals. Starling remains in Lincoln working out with the Nebraska football team. He was present for Friday’s fan day but can not practice with the team because he is not on the official 105-man camp roster. Huskers head coach Bo Pelini told the media on Saturday that they would keep Starling off the practice field until a decision had been made on his professional baseball future. The Huskers have two open slots on their 105-man camp roster, and players can be added two it at any time. Pelini is saving those slots for Starling and freshman defensive back Charles Jackson, whose academic eligibility is as yet unresolved.
