A North Platte man went for a wild right Sunday night, driving through a Union Pacific fence and over the tracks.
According to a News Release from the North Platte Police Department, Benjamin Fritz, 21, was traveling north on Oak Street when he crossed Front street and drove onto UP property, through a chain link fence and onto the railroad tracks. Fritz was taken to Great Plains Regional Medical Center with what police are calling fairly significant injuries.
The 2010 Nissan Titan Fritz was driving crossed three rows of tracks and flipped when he hit a fourth. Investigators believe Fritz was driving at a high rate of speed and missed the stop sign at Oak and Front. It was also discovered that Fritz was driving the vehicle, which belongs to a family member, without permission.
It is also believed that alcohol did play a role in the accident. Police stated that charges in the incident are forthcoming.
