Two North Platte men are facing criminal charges after North Platte Police say they stole car parts and tried to sell them.
According to a news release from the North Platte Police Department (NPPD), at around 3:30 PM on February 22, an Officer with the NPPD responded to a residence in the 800 block of East 6th on the report of a theft. The victim told police that an unknown person stole three car axles from his property sometime over the past three days. The value of the stolen items was approximately $1,300.00.
On January 23, an Officer responded to North Platte Metals after learning that a suspect in the case, Jeffrey Golden, 48 was at the business with the the suspected stolen axles. The owner of the axles was able to identify them as his.
Upon further investigation, the Officer learned that there was another victim found to have two bumpers and a grill plate stolen at around the same time as the axles. This incident occurred in the 700 block of East 3rd. These items were also located in the trailer Golden was using to haul the stolen axles. The value of the grill and bumpers was estimated to be around $300.
Following the investigation, the Officer determined that there was probable cause to arrest Golden for Felony Theft by Unlawful Taking for the axle theft, as well as Misdemeanor Theft by Unlawful Taking for the second crime.
An accomplice, Julian Daily, 39 was arrested for Aiding Consummation of a Felony and Misdemeanor Theft by Unlawful Taking.
Both men were arrested and jailed at the Lincoln County Detention Center.
