Lincoln Loan Officer Gets Probation for Aiding and Abetting Theft

gavel-and-scaleA judge has given a former bank loan officer in Lincoln two years of probation for aiding and abetting theft by deception.

Forty-seven-year-old Lisa Peterson pleaded guilty in January after prosecutors lowered the charge. Court records say Peterson was sentenced on Tuesday.

The records say that in June a 73-year-old woman told Lincoln police that she’d been getting collection letters about a $5,050 loan she’d never taken out.

Investigators say Peterson was working at a Lincoln bank when she helped the woman’s daughter-in-law get the loan in the mother-in-law’s name to bond a relative of the daughter-in-law out of jail. The Associated Press reports that the relative was Peterson’s boyfriend.

Peterson no longer works at the bank branch.
