Grand Island’s mayor will not resign after being stopped for suspicion of drunken driving.

Jay Vavricek was pulled over by the State patrol Saturday evening after being seen driving on the shoulder of a road. He went to jail, but bonded out.

A mayoral spokesperson says Vavricek will not be resigning and business will continue as usual.

Formal charges have not been filed against Vavricek, as authorities are still waiting for blood test results.
