Football fans can learn about the physics behind the game’s big hits during a talk at the University of Nebraska-Lincoln next month.
Physics professor Timothy Gay will explain some of those forces in an April 5 talk that will also examine the game’s history and its dangers.
Many Nebraska football fans will remember Gay from the physics videos he produced several years ago that aired at Memorial Stadium on game days.
The free lecture will be held inside Memorial Stadium’s West Stadium Club at 12:15 p.m. on April 5. A full house is likely because free pizza will be served 30 minutes beforehand.
It will also be broadcast live online at go.unl.edu/nl-timgay.
Gay will also talk about the research UNL is pursuing about how the brain behaves after a concussion.
