(AP)-Nebraska authorities say a 15-year-old passenger has died in a rollover accident on Interstate 80 after the vehicle she was in swerved to avoid a turkey carcass.

The Nebraska State Patrol says the accident occurred about 2:40 p.m. Tuesday near Shelton.

The deceased was identified as Daniela Rodriguez. She was driving with 16-year-old Bitia Organista Ojeda, also of Kearney.

The patrol says Ojeda swerved to miss the carcass and overcorrected after the sport utility vehicle ran onto the median. The SUV rolled twice, ejecting Rodriguez.

She was pronounced dead at the scene. Ojeda was taken to a Kearney hospital for treatment and then released.
