Gordon Eugene Eaves, 60, of North Platte, NE, passed away May 7, 2013, at his home in North Platte.

Gordon was born February 19, 1953, to James Beuford and Genevieve Amalie Goodmanson Eaves at North Platte where he grew up and attended public school. On February 29, 1972, Gordon enlisted with the U.S. Navy and served on the U.S.S. Denver off the shores of Vietnam. He was discharged on February 28, 1975, and returned to North Platte where he attended Mid Plains Community College studying diesel engines. He then went to work for the North Platte Public Schools in the Custodial Department.

On October 14, 1978, Gordon married Linda Marlene Dimmitt Sundstrom at North Platte where they made their home.

Gordon was a member of the First Christian Church where he ran the sound system for many years.

Survivors include his brothers, Jon (Gay) Eaves, of New Prague, MN and B. Allyn (Dee) Eaves, of Apple Valley, MN; a sister, Janet Harman, of Denver, CO; a sister-in-law, Verna Eaves, of Pittsburgh, PA; two stepdaughters, Michelle and Melissa; many nieces, nephews and other family.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Linda; his parents, Beuford and Genevieve Eaves; his brother, Gery Eaves; and a brother-in-law, Willard Harman.

Cremation was chosen. A memorial service will be 10 a.m., Monday, May 13, 2013, at the First Christian Church with Pastor Adams officiating. Inurnment with military honors will be in Fort McPherson National Cemetery. The memorial book may be signed from 8:30 a.m. to 6 p.m. Saturday at Odean Colonial Chapel At C & Sycamore.
