Inez Rey Ramos Jr., 62, of North Platte, passed away on May 13, 2013, at the University of Nebraska Medical Center in Omaha.
Rey was born Dec. 13, 1950, in Lamesa, Texas, to Inez Rey and Marie DeLuz Ramos Sr. Rey lived in New Mexico, traveling with his family working the fields, eventually settling in Nebraska. He entered the U.S. Army and served in Vietnam for 18 months. Rey met his future wife, Margaret Sanchez. Together they had seven sons.
He worked for multiple concrete companies in Utah. Rey enjoyed handball and pool, always beating his sons. He will be remembered for his joking and smiling, and for spending time with his family.
Survivors include his wife, Margaret of North Platte; his sons, Inez Ramos, Mario (Elena) Ramos, Martin (Janette Jividen) Ramos, Carlos Ramos all of North Platte, Marcos Ramos of Odessa, Texas, Mark Ramos of Lincoln and Daniel Ramos of North Platte; his step-children, Jessica (Romano) Polanco of North Platte, Ofela Sanchez of Grand Island, CheeRee Perez of Grand Island and Angelica (Joseph) Scovill of North Platte; his siblings, Rose Valdez and Julian Valdez both of Portalez, N.M.; a brother-in-law, Robert Marquez of Monahans, Texas; numerous grandchildren; and many other family members and friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents; a sister, Irene; and his brothers, Johnny, Jose and Julian.

Services will be at 10 a.m., Saturday, May 18, 2013, at Adams & Swanson Funeral Home with Pastors Herman Queme and Anna Romero officiating. Burial will be at Fort McPherson National Cemetery near Maxwell with full military honors. Visitation is 9 a.m. to 9 p.m., today and Friday, with family receiving friends from 6-8 p.m. Friday at Adams & Swanson Funeral Home, which is in charge of arrangements.
