Rosemary “Roe” Zimmerer Schmadeke

Rosemary “Roe” Zimmerer Schmadeke, 70, of North Platte, NE, passed away Wednesday, May 15, 2013, at her home surrounded by her loving family.

Roe was born March 25, 1943, in Cherry Valley, IL to Paul B. Zimmerer and Ann (Van De Hoven) Zimmerer. Roe grew up in Lindsay, NE where her parents operated Lindsay Manufacturing and she graduated from Lindsay Holy Family High School.

While in high school Roe met Jim R. Schmadeke from Newman Grove, NE, and they were married October 13, 1962. The couple lived in Newman Grove then Imperial, NE, before moving to North Platte in 1977 where they owned and operated Circle S Agri-Sales for many years.

Roe was a member of Holy Spirit Catholic Church. She was active in community college, took upholstery classes, and loved woodworking and remodeling. She also loved antiquing, crafts and golf.

She will be remembered as a loving wife, mother, grandmother, sister and friend. Roe will be dearly missed, especially on family vacations and sibling/sister get-togethers. We drew our strength and courage from her. Roe is our angel.

Survivors include her husband, Jim, of North Platte; her children, Steve (Holly) Schmadeke, of Highlands Ranch, CO, Sherrie (Mark) Smith, of Hollywood, FL and James J. (Mindy) Schmadeke, of North Platte, NE; her grandchildren, Alexander Esposito, Aaron Schmadeke, Grant Schmadeke, Taylor Schmadeke, Logan Schmadeke and Skyler Schmadeke; her siblings, Donna (Ron) Arlt, of Lindsay, NE, Helen (Paul) Zochall, of Columbus, NE, Kathy (Ed) Benson, of Kearney, NE, Wilma (Terry) Pruess, of Lindsay, NE, Bill (Melanie) Zimmerer, of Clovis, CA, Bob (Debbie) Zimmerer, of Clovis, CA and Jackie (Scott) Deaver, of Dallas Center, IA; sisters-in-law, Judy Zimmerer (widow of Bernard Zimmerer) and Bernadette Paschetta (widow of Arthur Zimmerer); and other family.

Roe was preceded in death by her parents, Paul and Ann Zimmerer; and her brothers, Arthur and Bernard Zimmerer.

Visitation will be Friday, May 17, 2013, from 4 to 7 p.m. followed by a Wake Service at Lindsay Holy Family Catholic Church. Mass of Christian Burial will be 10 a.m. Saturday at Lindsay Holy Family Catholic Church followed by a burial in the Holy Family Catholic Cemetery. Memorials are suggested to Lindsay Holy Family.
