Grand Island Attorney Seeks Two Year Old Fees

city-of-grand-island(AP) — A Grand Island attorney whose was denied payment by the Hall County Board of Supervisors because he waited more than two years to submit the bill has filed a notice of appeal in Hall County District Court.

Attorney Jerry Fogarty wants nearly $2,000 for work he did when he was appointed by the court to represent mental health clients in 2010 and 2011.

Fogarty submitted the claims earlier this year, but the Hall County board denied them, citing state law that requires claims to be filed with the county clerk within 90 days of the service that was performed.

But Fogarty’s appeal filed on Wednesday says the board was wrong to deny the claims, because state law requires that he be compensated for the work he completed.
