(AP) — A man has lost his right hand and will likely to lose a foot after being dragged 400 feet by a train in west Lincoln.
The accident happened around 2 a.m. Saturday when a 23-year-old man tried to coax a puppy from underneath a stationary Burlington Northern Santa Fe train.
Police say the man was with a woman and two dogs, when one of the dogs ran under the train. The man was reaching under the train to try to get the puppy when the train started moving.
The woman was able to flag down someone in the train.
The man’s right hand was severed, and he sustained severe damage to his right arm and left leg and foot.
The puppy was unhurt.
