Robert L. Kosmacek, 84, of North Platte, passed away July 26, 2013 at Good Samaritan Hospital in Kearney.
He was born Jan. 13, 1929, to Louis and Helen (Zych) Kosmacek at Brule. Robert attended school in Ovid, Colo. and later served in the United States Army during the Korean Conflict until his honorable discharge in 1952.
On Dec. 5, 1954, he was united in marriage to Florence Kraft at Kimball. They lived in the communities of Ogallala, Wallace, Paxton, and eventually in North Platte. They owned and operated the Wallace Cafe and then began a construction company with his son.
Robert loved his family, fishing, and playing cards. He was a member of the VFW and American Legion.
Survivors include his wife, Florence, of North Platte; his daughters, Cindy (Tim) Lundvall and Patty (Larry) O’Brien, both of Wallace, Cathy Garrett, of North Platte; his son, Bob (Lisa) Kosmacek,of North Platte; 11 grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; nieces, nephews, and other relatives; and friends, including the Armstrong families of Ogallala.
He was preceded in death by his parents; a brother, Lloyd (Sonny); his sister, Louise; his grandson, Cole Frederick, and a son-in-law, Bud Garrett.

Services will be at 10 a.m., Tuesday, July 30, at the Wallace Methodist Church. Burial will be at the Morningview Cemetery in Wallace with military honors. Visitation will be from 8:30 a.m. to 8 p.m., Monday, July 29, and prior to the service at the church on Tuesday, at Carpenter Memorial Chapel.
